Spain

  • The article mentions both the physical literal in time (with the time zone) and the sense of cultural time—providing the history for each one.  What do you see as the 'history' of Spanish cultural rhythms?
  • Would changing the time zone effect Spaniards? If so, how?
  • What do you think about the article's argument regarding productivity; is this a personal (cultural, national) concern? Do you think it is valid to claim that Spain is less productive? And that it is because of their daily schedule?
  • What do you think about having free time in the evening, versus free time mid-day?
  • In the article, Chincilla mentions that there is a lack of family time—in part due to Spain's schedule. Do you feel this is true? Why or why not?  Is the schedule to blame for the birth rate?
